- Simão hopes you and your grandmother will go all out to support Portugal when they face Hungary on Saturday. “We do not know what to expect from Hungary. We will have to (put on) a great display to win. We will fight in order to be in the World Cup. Hopefully people will support us again, so that together we can go there” he said. Meanwhile, Nani looks pissed standing next to Greaseano in that photo above. Hehehe… we can’t say anything bad about gato. He thinks we speak good Portuguese!
- Del Rossi thinks that the competition to play for the Azzurri is heated – but fun. “If we look at the goals, the ones in the national team have scored more,” he said. Apparently, Marcelo Lippi has declared that the Italian U-20 team are a group of nerds. How mean! “They are 10 years younger than (some of us),” smiled Del Rossi, referring to the coach’s remark. Well, Lippi better do his homework because they defeated the Bobojan’s U-20 friends 3-1.
- The U-20 Selecao Joven will be going to the quarter-finals after securing a neat 3-1 win over Uruguay!! The goals were courtesy of Alex Teixeira and Alan Kardec. As usual, Douglas Costa put on a brilliant show and so did Giuliano. Unfortunately, the goalkeeper, Rafael, has been facing immense pressure after a dismal performance against Australia (where he failed to anticipate a goal). He managed to redeem himself this time when he saved Uruguay’s penalty in the dying moments of the game.
