Yes, we loveee music so when we received a preview to this fantastic indie World Cup compilation, honestly it was muito legal! Forget Akon (keep Shakira though), this is the only musical accompaniment to the Copa del Mundo that you ought to be dancing to every morning.
You see, all 32 countries have their own unique ‘theme song’ written by a band who has its own ‘history’ with the country of choice. Our stand out favourite is definitely “Vamos a Ganar El Mundial” for Spain by The Yellow Melodies. Cops On The Edge’s “Bafana Bafana” also boasts catchy lyrics like “We’re gonna win the cup for Charlize Theron” while Boca Chica makes you fall in love with Algeria again (thanks to their spellbinding vocalist). Other worthy mentions include Standard Fare’s “Vaya Vaya Mexico” and of course, The Very Most’s ode to France… ironically titled “Irlande”. So quick, have a listen… and yes, it’s all about the price of a Happy Meal.
