In the end, some will be left crying. This, my friends is football and even teams like Deportivo la Coruna had to learn the hard way following their 0-2 loss to the Valencians last night. Los Turcos have been relegated from La Liga, and will face a painful season in second flight with Almeria and Hercules. Well Depor fans, you should feel proud to have an icon like Juan Carlos Valeron who has insisted he’ll be fighting to bring back glory to the fans! Ala Alessandro del Piero who never left Juventus even when they were relegated in the 2006/2007 season.
“Next year we will return to the Primera Division because we are going to do things well from the start of the campaign and we will return the team to the place they deserve to be. We couldn’t do any more than we did but when things don’t go your way…what can we do about that? The ball just didn’t go in even though we’ve given everything. We’re really sorry. Next season we will right the wrongs we have done.”

In Madrid, the club also bid farewell to goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek, who has been serving the club since 2007. Our fabulous amiga, Kay from Real Madrid TV (seen with Adebayor above) had the honour of doing the final interview with the Polish player before he left! Dudek received a standing ovation from the Bernabeu faithful yesterday and the players also escorted him back to the bench in the Guard of Honour style. Say what you will, but it’s always nice to see how players treat one another, despite all the allegations of ‘individual vs team effort’ surrounding Real Madrid.
“When my teammates and friends formed the corridor… I don’t have words to describe it,” said Dudek. ”Three weeks ago I already knew I was going to play, but I didn’t expect it to be so moving. I am very happy and the last four years have been incredible. I have always tried to help. Time has flown by because they have been four great years.”

And the final sappy farewell was the one from Brazilian left-back Dede, to his Borussia Dortmund soon-to-be “ex-teammate”, Nuri Sahin. The fact it took them nearly a decade to pick up their 7th German Championship title must have been too much for him to take, especially since it brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “bowing out in style”. We’re pretty sure Sahin is ready for a new challenge at Real Madrid and can’t wait to hang out with Khedizil (Khedira & Ozil… get with the times!!!)
