Mexico defeated El Salvador last night in Texas as part of the CONCACAF Gold Cup match. After a disappointing Champions League finale for Chicharito, he managed to redeem himself by scoring a hat-trick in the second half. We’re pretty sure the entire country was waiting for that. Que guaaaay!
“He was fortunate to score as a result of good team play,” Mexico coach Jose Manuel De La Torre said. “He did what forwards are supposed to do.”
Meanwhile, Brazil only managed a goaless draw against The Netherlands (with a Ramires send-off, to top it off – almost like a World Cup finale eh?) and are now facing backlash from their most passionate fans, which include their own citizens. Julio Cesar, in the meantime, insists that everyone needs to be patient and wait for Menezes to work his magic. Hmmm.
“Supporters want to see goals but this is a new project under a new coach and it needs time to work,” – Julio Cesar
The selecao face Romania on Tuesday. In the meantime, here are more photos from Selecao Bootcamp (with Ronaldo Lima making a guest appearance at their training – they’ll be honouring him tomorrow!)
