After being in Malaysia for two weeks to cover the three EPL teams with Futbolita.TV, our lens have shifted to the World Cup qualifiers! Tomorrow, key games in the World Cup qualifiers will be played out including Palestine vs Thailand, Philippines vs Kuwait, Hong Kong vs Saudi Arabia, Yemen vs Iraq and Malaysia vs Singapore.
Not many Asian footballers get the chance to train at the La Masia academy in Barcelona (vale vale, ya’ll know its fantastic!) Singapore’s Hariss Harun (seen above in his national colours, red) will be playing the second leg against Malaysia tomorrow, fresh from a 5-3 first leg victory at the same stadium which hosted Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea last week. Hariss has big dreams with his team and in this interview with Nike, he explained :
“My next step would be to win competitions with the national team, to win tournaments, win trophies. That’s the most important thing. A player’s career is judged by how many competitions he wins. Fans and people only remember champions. I want to be remembered, I want my team to be remembered, so we want to win as many tournaments as possible.”
“It won’t be easy in Bukit Jalil. The Malaysians will makes all kinds of noise to get behind their team. The most important thing for us is to psychologically keep our heads in the game and focus on the job at hand, because we have an advantage on our side. We must not let it slip and we have to tighten things up and hit them when we can.”
