So the U-20 selecao boys have done it once again, winning the World Cup for the fifth time last night (officially tied with the senior team!) As mum would say : “PARABENS!!” It was a hat-trick from Oscar which sealed the deal for the boys, ensuring they got the 3-2 victory over colonial brothers, Portugal. The game had to go into extra-time and was a tightly fought one, but Oscar’s winner in the 111th minute could not have come at a better time!

Also, Henrique picked up the tournament’s Golden Boot award (although Brazil’s coach Ney Franco expected Oscar to be voted Best Player!) It’s time for Menezes to start picking from this squad instead as the answer to the senior team’s recent dip in performances.

“Thank God for the goals I scored (and) I am very happy. Brazil deserved to be champions,” said Oscar, who explained that although the games in the tournament went well, he felt Brazil were not scoring as frequently.
