Brazilian football legend, Marta, was in Sierra Leone in the last two days to promote women’s empowerment. The UNDP Goodwill Ambassador met with university students, footballers, advocates and students. Marta also told them the story of how she overcame a difficult childhood to become the best female football player in the world. O que é uma inspiração!
UNDP’s Sierra Leone Country Director explained that this UNDP “Access to Justice” project is supporting access to justice and security for security of women and girls. This is especially for survivors of sexual and gender based violence through providing support to victims via bearing the cost of prosecution and legal aid services at community level.

Marta also told the group of students and footballers (seen above in blue/yellow kits) :
“I am here to tell you my story, but also to learn about your story … through my story I want to tell you nothing is impossible”
