This is an absolute winner for women and football! Last night, 41,663 women and children filled the stadium to watch Turkish side, Fenerbahce play against Manisaspor. The Turkish Football Federation recently took up a decision to ban male supporters from attending games following their acts of hooliganism against Shakhtar Donetsk. So while the gloomy male fans of Fenerbahce were left to shred onions in their homes, their female counterparts arrived – in full force – to watch the game and cheer their hearts out in the 1-1 draw. FANTASTICO!! The team also hurled flowers at the crowd to show their appreciation and we’re pretty sure visiting side Maniaspor felt a tinge of jealousy hearing all those screams. Nevertheless…
Nice work, futbolitas!
“I will remember this night forever. It’s not always that you see so many women and children at a game,” declared Fenerbahce’s captain Alex de Souza.
