So Gerard Pique has told Catalonia daily, El Mundo Deportivo – big ‘Waka Waka‘ fans, by the way – that he hasn’t been in tuned with all those relationship rumours about Shakira – and just wants to focus on Spain’s campaign ahead. Last week, the interwebs exploded with news about this, until the singer’s spokesperson finally denied it.
“The truth is that I watch very little TV and read very little. Depending on which news, I’m not up to date with everything that is said or published. It is true that I get ‘inputs’ from friends, but every time I pay less attention to this. They keep talking about what they want, you can’t do anything. I now I must concentrate on football because we have many challenges ahead and we put all our senses into it. The challenge ahead for this team is too much to get distracted.” – Gerard Pique.
Also, Victor Valdes (seen left) has been favoured by Vicente Del Bosque to start for Spain against Scotland tonight.
Good news, considering the fact that he needs more minutes at international level – it’s a level playing field, Iker Casillas!
Here’s a video of the Spanish team at training yesterday afternoon, much to the excitement of the crowd (obviamenteeee, ¿quién no?!)
No, you’re not looking at a scene from “Footballers Caught as Deer in the Headlights”! It’s just Ryan Giggs making his mark on Monaco’s Champions Promenade, after winning the GoldenFoot award last night. The process involves the player getting his feet moulded on a “plaque with diamond stars”. Wowwzah!
Sadly, after all that lobbying, Xavi failed to win this one but ironically, he picked up a lot of individual awards in his home country. Also, the GoldenFoot is given to players who are on the verge of retirement, and clearly, Xavi is NOT ready for that yet.
