Well, this is a truly shocking photograph – but believe it or not, the woman here isn’t a deranged football fan! She’s a member of FEMEN, a Ukrainian Women Movements group (we’d call it a ‘feminist’ group but that term is tragically overused these days), who participated in a protest at Ukraine’s newly reconstructed Olympiyskiy Stadium last week.
FEMEN are now rallying and protesting against sex tourism, prostitution, and alcohol sales at sports stadiums at the Euro 2012 Poland/Ukraine next year. Their demonstrations can be a little lewd, but FEMEN activists want to “demonstrate the ‘dark side’ of Ukraine’s preparation for Euro 2012 and expose the corrupt schemes associated with the football championships.” The activists were summoned to court after they held a topless protest when Platini visited the stadium last month.
It’s a tough battle to win girls – especially since it’s a situation that can’t be helped with corporate greed – but you have every right to defend your own turf!
