Guardate questo…. The Milan tifosi have outdone themselves once again! This time, it’s a little more blasphemous than usual. They’ve compared their very own Pope Benedict XVI to Pippooooo Inzaghi - aligning the veteran and exceptionally passionate striker to God. Mind you, this is all very normal in Italian football circumstances – in case any conservative tea-dipping chicos are reading this!

The banner, held out during Milan’s 4-0 thumping of Catania yesterday read : “tu prega il tuo dio che, io prego il mio (You pray to your god, I pray to mine). Pippo didn’t even play the full minutes and come on as a substitute in the second half.
Honestly, the banner has a pretty nice ring to it and the best part is that Pippo himself signed next to his face. Absentmindedly, perhaps? Pope vs Pippo, vuoi il duello?

Anyway, Milan’s Antonio Cassano underwent a minor heart surgery on Friday (you remember how they were rallying for him here). He was operated on Dr Mario Carminati, a surgeon considered to among “the best in the business” and is expected to return to action in around five months!
