LA LIGA LUNES : Madrid’s ‘Lucky’ Red Kits Help Them To 3-2 Win Over Valencia

Red is an incredibly Spanish colour to wear, and Madrid chose to don it against Valencia at the Mestalla last night (one of the steepest stadium steps to climb, if you’re wearing heels - stop rolling your eyes, hombres!) In Spain, you’d better be wearing red… or be late!

Anyway, the score ended 3-2 in Madrid’s favour, but that’s not to say that the Valencianos didn’t fight to the end… they deserve the credit for their efforts too. We know this is random as hell but we’re craving a paella valenciano now – quiero comer una paella valenciana ahora.

Poor Diego Alves looked a little frustrated for words, given the fact that Valencia could’ve easily drawn this game. They had a goal disallowed for offside and a penalty appeal turned down in the closing moments. And of course, a Higuain handball dilemma (the talk of Madrid tonight!) These things always seem to work against their favour, but you know how it is. Also, Karim Benzema’s goal celebration… a little too cheeky for words?!

“We wanted to put pressure on Valencia’s creation point. We didn’t want to defend. On the contrary, we wanted to keep every space in attack covered.” – Real Madrid’s Aitor Karanka.
