We hate to be the bearer of sad news, but this 1-year-old girl suffered the worst bruises (and possibly a bone crack above her nose) in the car accident involving Germany’s Lukas Podolski in Cologne two days ago. There is some controversy involved as the child’s mother, Ulrike, has accused Lukas of being ignorant (which is pretty unfair to the striker, to be honest!)
“At the accident, (Podolski) was seated in his car and initially stayed there (without) even asking about the health of our daughter. I told him that I would have expected a different reaction. ” – Ulrike (via Bild)
Obviously, Podolski was shocked – and we’re not taking anyone’s side here – but who wouldn’t be?!
Of course, Podolski who is actively being sought out by Arsenal in the upcoming transfer window, has fought back at the backlash from last night saying : “Now I have the impression that the public is more interested in the family than the actual accident.”
“In the afternoon, I immediately tried to contact the family by telephone. Unfortunately I could not reach anyone. In the evening I was able to speak with the mother. I have inquired after the health of the family and apologized for the collision. I had told the mother that I will take care of them immediately for fast and smooth settlement of claims. “
