Welcome to Offbeat Wednesday, where it’s all about the Football Gossip! Today, read about the Persies’ short trip to Dubai, the ladies at the Ballon D’or, Irina Shayk’s Birthday celebration and Sthefany Brito’s latest ad campaign!
To kick things off, here’s a delightful photo of Robin van Persie’s family posing with the legend… the man… the suegro of Kun Aguero… the keeper of Benjie’s car keys, DIEGO MARADONA! Well, this Superman-type commentary must’ve run through the Arsenal striker’s mind when he finally got to meet his ‘idol’ of all time (according to wife, Bouchra van Persie!) in Dubai.
Robin’s son Shaqueel, should be feeling like the luckiest boy in the world although daughter Dina Layla didn’t look too impressed about the meeting at all! Oh come on, if you were a 3-years-old and your parents interrupted your Dora the Explorer episode just to meet grandpa’s stamp-collecting group of friends (‘oh but sugar plum, he’s a special man!!‘), you’d be sulking too!
Moving on to the Ballon D’or - which has been done to death (we know) – but can you believe that some fractions of the media actually thought Leo Messi’s girlfriend, Antonella Roccuzzo was actually his sister? MIO DIO… now that’s embarrassing! Here’s the couple out and about in Zurich on the day of the awards ceremony. We’re pretty sure all those rumours of a break-up were just fodder for the pink pages (a man like Messi needs some support right now, por favor) because they’re back together and she’s working it!
Meanwhile, Gerard Pique and Shakira were also seen checking into the same hotel in Zurich. The Colombian singer donned a cute outfit next to her beau and also presented the award for Best Female footballer.
Pique always gets incredibly paranoid whenever he spots a pap around – it’s Shakira, not YOU, tipo!
Moving on to the future wife of Cristiano Ronaldo – Miss Irina Shayk! Sure, we can hear collective groans of ‘Oh, not again!’ but if you’re marrying one of the top footballers in the world, obviously everyone is going to care about your birthday (except maybe Sepp Blatter’s siblings and the man who sent her these flowers!)
Anyway, Irina celebrated her 26th birthday on January 6 and received those roses as a gift. Is that all? What about the latest Porsche Carrera from Cristiano’s garage?
Last but certainly not least, here’s an update on Sthefany Brito – whom many of you probably recognise as the former wife of Alexandre Pato. Sure, she may be on the receiving end of some criticism and hateful comments right now but you gotta give her some credit for starting over!
Here she is posing in a fashion editorial for designer clothing brand ‘Pakalolo’ (also a Hawaiian word which means ‘marijuana’!) As she’d probably love to say : “Don’t hate… appreciate!”
