Feliz Sabado! If you haven’t heard of ‘Cuando Messi‘, you’ve gotta get with the program right away. Yesterday (for the most part), most of the football fraternity was up in arms over something Pele said :
“When Messi has scored 1,283 goals and won three World Cups, then we will talk. People ask me all the time when there will be a new Pele. I tell them, ‘Never’. My parents shut down the factory.”
First of all, it’s Pele and you need to believe that waxing lyrical on his past achievements is a full time job. Secondly (and perhaps sadly), in retrospective, a successful player is judged based on how many World Cups he has won. So it pains us to say this but Grandpa Pele has a point! However, this does not undermine the brilliance of Messi in any way. Pele, too, had some of the best players contributing to his success during his glory days with Brasil.
Lastly, the last part about ‘closing the factory’ is quite rude, coming from a Brazilian ‘legend’. He needs to admit that there will be better players than him now and the future. Stay classy, Pele!

Here’s Esteban Granero tickling Ronaldo’s ears (he probably thought it was Irina) at a basketball game last weekend. Anyway, Ronaldo has come out to say some pretty interesting things this week about looking good and having good genes. He also and repeated the fact that he sometimes looks into the wardrobe for over an hour to find the right clothes to wear. Honestly now!
“Style is very important. Football comes first, but my image comes second. It is vital to do magnificent things on the field, but it is also important to have a good image off it. I like looking good. I can open the wardrobe in the morning and look for an hour before I decide what to wear. As a professional sportsman, my physical shape and health are crucial for me, but I do not pay much attention to it. I am lucky because I have good genes. For example, during the close season I can relax for several days and I do not gain weight. Some players are not that lucky.” – Ronaldo

The last time these two met, we had to close our eyes while Arsenal were pummeled 8-2 in the highest-scoring game of the Premiership season so far. It was a horrifying game for anyone to watch – even the sympathetic Manchester United critics. But football simply isn’t for the faint hearted and tomorrow’s Arsenal-United showdown at the Emirates is no different.
Interestingly, this will be the 47th meeting between Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsène Wenger. Ferguson has won 21, Wenger 16 and there have been nine draws in their previous games. There’s a good chance Robin van Persie will be adding to his slate of 17 goals and who knows what might happen with a little bit of Titi Henry magic?
“He [Ferguson] will manage until he dies and I think he will be 100 (jokingly). I only said that [I have the same hunger] because I’m very polite!” – Arsene Wenger on Alex Ferguson.
Lastly, here’s the Man City gang being goofballs and encouraging their fans to wear blue this weekend for a cool project called Blue Sunday!
