The buzz surrounding the Spanish Burgos province these days has been remarkable. They are of course, home to Mirandes, the Spanish third-division team that have made it to the semi-finals of the Copa del Ray! Mirandes will meet Athletic Bilbao tonight at their modest 6,000-seater stadium, which was expanded yesterday to accommodate another 1,700 visiting fans. Suddenly, everyone from the local grocer to that neighbour who never left the house in 40 years is turning up to watch them train. It’s a feat that has driven the entire town mad with anticipation… lo increíble!

On the other hand, Fernando Llorente and co‘ arrived in Haro last night to hundreds of waiting fans who had presumably turned up to see… well, Llorente. It’s the closest they’ve been to the giants of top-level football so understandably, they waited till Athletic’s team bus arrived at the Hotel Los Agustinos. Vamos, chicos!!
