Welcome to a slightly late edition of La Liga Lunes (La Liga Monday!) Over the weekend, the Women’s FIFA Ballon d’Or winner Homare Sawa met up with Barcelona maestro Xavi at the club’s training ground. Her team, INAC Kobe from the Japanese Women’s league, played a friendly against Barcelona’s female squad (highlights below). She admires Xavi for his “complete ball control and passing” but we’re pretty sure Leo Messi wouldn’t be too pleased to hear this!
Real Madrid defeated Getafe 4-1 over the weekend, and of course, Karanka and Jose Mourinho were seen taking notes from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.
Of course, the Madrid manager relied on his trustworthy notebook to see if his predictions went to plan. What ever happened to upgrading your technology, Mourinho?! Now we know how to get hold of your tactics sheet in the form of sticky notes…

Speaking of coaches and their technological failures, Sevilla’s coach Marcelino Garcia Toral was fired today following his dismal 21-match campaign with the club. Of course, Sevilla are working towards a Champions League spot now (they are six points away from it) and there’s a lot work left to do within the next four months.
“The decision was taken after the president, Jose Maria del Nido, and sporting director Ramon Rodriguez Monchi met with the coach to evaluate the sporting situation. Soon after the meeting Monchi communicated to the coach the decision taken. Sevilla want to publicly thank Marcelino for his professionalism and work, and regret having to have taken a drastic decision due to the results.”
