Buenas! The realists and statisticians among you won’t be surprised that Barcelona defeated the very loveable Valencia 2-0 last night. But as it seems, Madrid are frontrunners to win the La Liga, so el Blaugranas will be hoping to take home their 26th Spanish Cup title title. Unless, of course, Athletic Bilbao have a “Maestro” Plan for the final on May 25.
Cesc Fabregas tends to perform exceptionally well in Spanish Cup games – regardless of his careless head injuries – and last night, he scored and set up Xavi‘s goal. El Crack!

In the African Nations Cup, Zambia created history by setting up an African Nations Cup final clash with Ivory Coast in Librevelle on Sunday. Of course, there was plenty of celebrations on the streets! Still, it will be a particularly emotional final because Zambia’s national football team died in a plane crash 19 years ago when they were returning from a World Cup Qualifier in Dhaka. It was a sad day for football, and Zambia’s players intend to honour that memory when they return to Librevelle.
“It was written in the stars that we had to return to Gabon in order to honour the memories of the national side wiped out in 1993. A team that is returning home and all of them die, is catastrophic for a country. Twelve million Zambians wanted us to go the whole way to Libreville. As soon as we arrive in Libreville, we will go to the spot where the plane crashed, not far from the stadium. It is imperative we play for them, for Zambia, because it is a fantastic country.” – Zambia’s Renard.
