Prior to Barcelona’s unexpected 2-1 loss to Celtic in the Champions League last night, Leo Messi, Xavi and Andrés Iniesta came together to commemorate Celtic’s grand 125-year anniversary. The three ‘cracks’ (a slang term that basically means brilliant player) all posed for a classic photo with the club’s first ever kit (left) and their current one (right).
Celtic also invited Barcelona to celebrate their quasquicentennial anniversary with them through a series of cultural events, and will continue to do so throughout the year.The club was founded in 1887 and have since won the Scottish League Championships a total of 43 times.
Of course, they pulled off a bit of magic on Wednesday night when Victor Wanyama and Tony Watt both scored for The Bhoys to sink the Barcelona ship. Well, they got Barca’s best players to touch a Celtic kit way before the meeting, so who is to say that luck doesn’t play a part in football?! Rod Stewart knew enough of this to cry!
