The Champions League Last-16 draw was made today, and oh dear, isn’t 2014 set to be a Blockbuster Year of Football?!
There were many exciting match-ups including Manchester City vs Barcelona which has already prompted debates of “quality over quantity”.
The Catalan giants’ former director of football Txixi Beguiristain (now working for City) already came out to say earlier that he would not “fear his former club”.
“I think the text messages will be flying between Manchester and Barcelona now between Sergio and Lionel! If you want to win the Champions League you have to beat the biggest teams, Barcelona are one of the biggest teams,” – Beguiristain.
AC Milan-Atletico Madrid is another tie we’re all excited about, while Arsenal-Bayern Munich is definitely set to thrill. With nothing set in stone, it would be foolish to underestimate the Gunners.
The ties are to be played on February 18/19 and 25/26 with second leg games scheduled for 11, 12, 18 and 19 March.
