Welcome to your first Offbeat Gossip column of 2014. This week, it’s a New Year’s special as we round up the football parties from across the globe. Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Falcao all make an appearance here!
Barcelona ace Lionel Messi spent his New Year’s basking in the summer glow of his hometown, Rosario, in Argentina.
Lucky for him, he was also in the company of his partner Antonella (seen above) as well as his close family and friends. The couple welcomed the ‘Ano Nuevo’ by toasting to a glass of champagne. Could he be toasting to another victory again at next week’s Ballon d’or? (groans all round from the Ronaldo fans!)
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo also spent Christmas and New Year’s with his girlfriend, Irina Shayk, at his home in Madrid. Their party was complete with a figurine of Santa Claus by the fire to ring in the festivities – because really, that’s all you need to ring in the celebrations!
Meanwhile, Cesc Fabregas invited good friend, Gerard Pique (and his partner, Shakira) for their very own New Year’s bash. Sadly, the third member of the ‘Moc Moc’ crew, Puyol, was nowhere to be seen.
Of course, we’re well aware of the fact that Fabregas’s girlfriend, Daniella Semaan, is fond of throwing her own house parties. Unfortunately, her best friend Antonella (Messi’s girlfriend) was not in Barcelona to help with the arrangements.
