Mourinho Says Arsene Wenger Is “Specialist In Failure” After Remark About Chelsea

Jose Mourinho has a point – he always does – and he’s a man who simply thrives on statistics. So you’d better not get into his bad books, especially if it’s the issue of ‘trophy talk’. The Chelsea coach seems programmed to win all manner of debates in 21st century football!

Anyway, Mourinho has slammed Arsene Wenger for his remarks on clubs “playing down their chances” to win the Premiership title because of their fear to fail. It was an obvious reference to Mourinho, although as we all know, Wenger is a bit of a philosopher whose words can be taken out of context. However, at this stage of the competition, there’s an obvious need to be wary and there’s nothing wrong with that.

“If (Wenger) is right and I am afraid of failure it is because I didn’t fail many times. Eight years without silverware, that’s failure. He’s a specialist in failure. If I do that in Chelsea, eight years, I leave and don’t come back.” – Mourinho

Under Wenger, Arsenal have failed to pick up a trophy since the 2005 FA Cup. A “specialist in failure”, however, is a tad harsh.
