Premiership : When Maradona Met Mata In Dubai – Plus Liverpool’s FA Cup Webb Of Disappointment

One of the more amusing moments from Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup last night was the sight of Daniel Sturridge tying up goalkeeper Fabianski’s boot lace in order to speed up play. It’s a bizarre display of sportsmanship and swag, all at the same time, but it also demonstrated the level of pressure involved in football where time really means everything.

After goals from Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain and Podolski in each half, as well as Gerrard’s 59th minute penalty, Arsenal are now through to the quarter-finals against Everton, denying Liverpool their right to a Merseyside reunion. Sturridge was clearly devastated, but so were the rest of his teammates.

The Reds felt robbed when Suarez appeared to have been clearly fouled but Howard Webb dismissed their appeals and waved on for play to resume.

Now, with all the controversy surrounding Webb (once again), including his leniency towards Arsenal and his apparent disdain for Liverpool, there’s a chance he might be the next Superstar at the World Cup in Brazil, so why not just put up with the England team at the same hotel, then, Howard?

Meanwhile, the Man United first team are currently enjoying their warm-weather training break in Dubai where they reunited with ex Al Wasl coach and legend Diego Maradona. Of course, Maradona is going through a bit of a soap opera moment back home, but could still laugh it all off with Juan Mata!
