“To score a hat-trick in Champions League football is a big thing, only certain players in the world are capable of it and he is one of them. He took his penalty and the free-kick well and Wayne [Rooney] did really well for the second goal [with the final pass]. He scored his hat-trick and really deserved it.” – David Moyes
They’ve had a rough week, and an even tougher season, so perhaps it’s understandable that Man United are clinging on to hopes of winning the Champions League after overturning their 2-0 deficit from the first leg to Olympiakos last night. Oh come on, give them a break!
Robin van Persie was the ‘Man of the Hour’ after scoring a hat-trick and coming back from injury, but it was actually Ryan Giggs’ passing that led to the goals. Moyes later referred to him as the “40 year old who defied age.”
This goal scored by Hulk against Borussia Dortmund can be best described as “out of nowhere” after he cut in from the right wing and fired a shot beyond the Dortmund goalkeeper’s reach yesterday. Sadly, despite Zenit’s 2-1 win over Dortmund, they were unable to go through to the next round of the Champions League.
Still, Hulk’s quality could prove really useful for Brazil at the World Cup!
