Man United’s ‘Class of 92’ fanboys/gals have been thrilled about the return of Ryan Giggs as the new interim manager of the club, after David Moyes’ sacking last week. And they have much of a reason to be enthusiastic – particularly after Giggsy led them to a 4-0 rout of Norwich City. This was a performance United fans had been waiting, or almost pleading for throughout the season and Giggs was delivering it like pepperoni pizza on a nice summer day.
There’s not much to say here for neutrals, except “Good on you, Man United!” and may the rest of the season reflect better on the club than it has under Moyes. Its safe to say that the pressure got to the poor Scotsman, but United were smart to elect a player/coach like Giggs to safely tide over the team while they await Louis van Gaal and Patrick Kluivert’s arrival after the World Cup.
Speaking of Van Gaal, his attention to detail is almost maddening, so United can expect to see a lot of transfer activity during the summer and a strict new management style which would probably bring a smile or a smirk, at the very least, to Sir Alex Ferguson’s face.
He started out the season on a rough note, after being banned for 10 games after his infamous bite on Chelsea’s Ivanovic, but Luis Suarez picked up the PFA Player of the Year award last night after scoring a total of 30 goals this season. Seriously now, the man just does what he likes, and we’ve all come to accept it!
Chelsea forward Eden Hazard, who scooped the Young Player of the Year award, came second in the main vote, while Manchester City talisman Yaya Toure came third.
Suarez was the first Liverpool player to win the award since Steven Gerrard in 2006 and was also the overwhelming favourite for the top award.
