There is understandably a great cause for celebration when you soar to a 4-0 victory over Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
Victories aside, Carlo Ancelotti and his team deserve all the credit for steering Real Madrid to their first Champions League final in 12 years. In their seemingly elusive quest for the 10th Champions League title, Real Madrid finally found the breakthrough this season.
In the past three seasons – at the very least – Madrid may not have expected to achieve such a feat against the mighty Bayern, who have been dubbed everything from ‘invincible’ to ‘unbeatable’ and every adjective in the book to describe Hulk (the Marvel character!) But the strength of character shone through, and it proves that dedication is the cornerstone to all achievements in football.
“You dream of a perfect game – the first half was great for us. The team has a great spirit for working for each other. Reaching the final after 12 years was a big target and it makes me proud that I did it with the team. When I arrived at Real, you could feel something special in the air, there was a special atmosphere.” – Carlo Ancelotti
