Offbeat : Alexis Sanchez Unwinds In Mexico, Germany’s Gotze In Ibiza

Arsenal’s latest signing Alexis Sanchez has been busy celebrating his £30million ($63 million) move to the Premiership side with his ‘WAG’ in recent weeks.

Sanchez is due to link up again with the Gunners for their pre-season programme in a few weeks, which kicks off in the USA.

But in the meantime, he has been spending his relaxation time with his girlfriend, Spanish art director, Laia Grassi, on the beaches of Mexico.

After leading Chile to the knockout stages of the World Cup in Brazil last month, Sanchez has spent the last few weeks in the Latin American continent, where he reunited with his family and friends.

Meanwhile, Grassi has been endearing herself to fans of the Gooners, and on the day Sanchez was announced as a new addition to the team, she wore a jersey bearing his name and wrote: ‘I’m a gunner!’ excitedly on her social network sites.

Sanchez, who arrived from Barcelona, speaks no English but new reports have confirmed that he will attend bi-weekly English lessons as he settles into life at the Emirates.

The 25-year-old has conducted his media duties through the aid of an interpreter so far, but hopes to learn the language within the next few months.

Arsene Wenger decided to splash the cash on the talented Chilean to bridge the gap between Arsenal and the Premier League’s top table teams.

Germany’s Sami Khedira is also said to be in discussion with the club over a possible summer move, and is reportedly keen to link up with his best friend at Real Madrid, Mesut Ozil.

Mario Goetze’s last gasp goal may have helped Germany win the World Cup for the first time in 24 years on Sunday, and his new ‘national hero’ status that has made him a household name.

However, the 23-year-old Bayern Munich attacking midfielder seems to have taken his worldwide burst of success at a stride, as he was spotted enjoying a sunshine break in Ibiza with his model girlfriend, Ann-Kathrin Brömmel,25, this week.

The footballer looked relaxed while wading through the cool Mediterranean waters on a rented yacht on Wednesday, the memory of his recent triumphs still undoubtedly fresh in his mind.

The German Football Federation had reportedly offered the squad a £240,000 ($510,000) bonus for winning the country their fourth World Cup.

And while Gotze continues to enjoy the life of a top-flight footballer, his girlfriend recently insisted she had no desire to be called a ‘WAG’.

Anna, who started dating Mario in 2012, told German GQ in September : “Someone whose purpose in life it is to be the wife of someone (is something) I cannot understand.”

“Although I am also the girlfriend of Mario Gotze, I have my own personal goals I want to achieve. Otherwise I could not be more happy.”

Brommel began her modeling career at the age of 16 in the northwest of Germany, and she is also a singer, using the stage name Trina B. She has recorded two songs, which have garnered her moderate success. She released the tracks called “This is Me,” in 2010, and another called“Body Language,” in 2011.

Given the attention centred on Mario following his 113th minute winner, the player has been transformed into somewhat of Germany’s national treasure.

‘It’s unbelievable,’ he said on Sunday. ‘I scored but I didn’t really know what was happening. A dream has become a reality and we are going to have a great party. It is absolutely sensational.
