Premiership Party : Man United Fall To Shock 5-3 Defeat As Van Gaal ‘Memes’ Sweep Net

Things got a little awkward from this point onwards yesterday, as Man United threw away their 3-1 lead and fell to an unbelievable loss to newly-promoted Leicester City.

Described as probably one of the “craziest second-half spells” in Premier League history, United were up three goals in the first 57 minutes, before David Nugent pulled one back from the penalty spot five minutes later.

Goals from Cambiasso, Vardy and Ulloa later made it 5-3, exposing United’s defence weakness and prompting a bunch of jokes – including one from Mario Balotelli – after the final whistle yesterday. Oh, to be in the mind of Louis van Gaal right now!

Indeed, it is embarrassing to succumb to such errors but Van Gaal assessed it as normal in football, although he did not hide his disappointment – and anger – at the result. Yes, kind sir, we all get it.

“I cannot say that I am happy. In the world of football, these matches happen. It is not good because we had the game in our pocket and gave it away. Not because of Leicester, we gave it away and I don’t like that. You never expect it when you are 3-1 ahead, you have to kill the game and keep possession but we didn’t do that. We created a lot of chances in the first half and made superb goals but a game lasts for 90 minutes, not just for 60 and you have seen it was not enough today.” – Van Gaal
