OFFBEAT: Luis Suarez’s Saudi Arabia ‘Selfie’, Bayern Munich’s Oktoberfest Party

Barcelona and Uruguay’s Luis Suarez just cannot escape the limelight wherever he travels in this world.

This time, a taxi driver in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, noticed the 27-year-old star had discreetly boarded his cab from the airport.

Much to the chagrin of Suarez, the cab driver quickly snapped a ‘Selfie’ with the player from where he was sitting.

Despite being one of the world’s best players, he did not look too happy to be recognized in the photo.

Suarez is in the Middle East for a friendly with the Uruguay national team, although he was slapped with a ban for eight competitive fixtures for a bite on Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.

He can, however, participate in friendly matches and is expected to start Friday’s game against Saudi Arabia.

After maintaining an unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich’s players spent their weekend letting their hair down at the annual Oktoberfest festivities on Sunday.

They celebrated their 4-0 win over Hannover on Saturday evening by donning their traditional ‘Lederhosen’ outfits for the party.

Players including Thomas Mueller and Polish striker Robert Lewnadowski, arrived with their wives and girlfriends to the celebration.

Head coach Pep Guardiola, who arrived alone, was spotted enjoying several pints of beer with his team.

Spain national Xabi Alonso posed for pictures with his wife, as he wore the traditional green hat and clutched a pint of beer, the main staple of the festival.

His Spanish teammate Thiago Alcantara and his WAG also enjoyed their pretzels and posted up a group photo of the players having fun at the event.

Pictures on the club’s official Twitter and Instagram accounts showed the players in fetching chequered shirts and braces, as they arrived by coach to the world-renowned Munich event.

The club’s official Instagram account tweeted a picture, with the message, ‘Off we go to #Oktoberfest! They’ve deserved it after their performances in recent weeks!’

The Oktoberfest has also attracted the attention of other high-profile athletes in the world.

On Friday, Olympic gold medallist and world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt was also pictured enjoying the sights and sounds of the festival in Munich.
