Tottenham starlet Harry Kane has been stealing the headlines for his goals in the Premier league, but he proved he was just a normal bloke when he took his childhood sweetheart out for Valentine’s Day.
Kane, 21, who has scored 23 goals so far this season, surprised Katie Goodland with a trip to the Spanish island of Marbella.
He was allowed time off as Mauricio Pochettino’s side were not involved in the FA Cup last weekend.
The pair dined at Marbella’s La Sala restaurant, which is also part-owned by former Spurs team-mate and good friend David Bentley.
The couple stayed at the 5-star Puente Romano hotel for two nights over the weekend, where Kane enjoyed some time away from the gruelling Premier League campaign.
“He is an amazing guy and an all-round professional. He doesn’t drink, but he knows how to have a good time,” Bentley, a former Tottenham, Blackburn and Arsenal player said.
“I sorted him and his girlfriend out with a place to stay for two nights and played golf with him too. We have been friends for years.”
Meanwhile England manager Roy Hodgson confirmed he will pick Kane for his next selection when they play Lithuania in a Euro 2016 qualifier on March 27.
“Harry Kane? He is an all-round centre forward, can play right up there against a centre back, or come off and see a pass,” Hodgson said in a televised interview.
“He’s got technique, he’s always looking to get on the end of crosses, that header against Arsenal was a really classy header. I thought that was a wonderful. If all goes well and he stays fit I’m pretty sure he’ll be in the next squad.”
Steven Gerrard could extend LA Galaxy stay beyond 18 months if his wife Alex gets her way after house-hunting mission.
The Liverpool captain Gerrard, 34, will join the MLS side when his current contract expires this summer, but his wife has already began scouting for houses on the other side of the Atlantic in preparation for the move.
The fitness trainer and model, 32, has been checking out Los Angeles ahead of their move in June.
She also attended the Grammy awards held in the city last week.
“I love it here. He has an 18-month deal but I hope he gets it extended because it’s great here,” she told the Sunday Mirror.
“I’d love to stay here longer. It’s so different to Liverpool but I think we’ll be really happy.”
Gerrard’s Liverpool commitments have made it difficult to visit LA but he has been getting in the mood for the move to Tinsel Town with the help of video chats.
“Steven is looking forward to coming out here,” she said. “He hasn’t been here before so I have been FaceTiming him as I’ve been going around. We’re going to live in Beverly Hills but househunting has been really hard. The houses are so beautiful. I wish I could find one I didn’t like!’
