The city of Alcorcón celebrated their shock victory over Real Madrid in style yesterday, as thousands lined the road to catch a glimpse of their heroes. Fans crowded around the team bus to welcome back their boys and we have to admit, it’s certainly a beautiful image!
It’s always sad when a death occurs in the football family. Tributes poured in from all over the world yesterday following the death of German goalkeeper, Robert Enke. It later emerged that he had been suffering from depression after the death of his 2-year-old daughter in 2006. “When he was acutely depressive, it was a difficult time. We thought we’d manage everything. We thought with love, we could do it. But you can’t,” his widow, Teresa, said.
“We had Lara, we have Leila. I always wanted to help him to get through it. Robert didn’t want it to come out because of fear. He was scared of losing Leila. Enke was also on the way to become Germany’s first-choice keeper until an intestinal infection sidelined him.“I tried to be there for him, I said that football is not everything,” she added.
