• Xavi…. La Increíble!

So Los Culés won the first leg of the Spanish Supercopa yesterday thanks to the outstanding Xavi (quem mais, really?!) Bilbao tried, but you know you’re in trouble when Barca don’t field Messiah, Iniesta or even Ibracadabra and still pull off a lovely win. Xavi’s scored the opener in the second half and it was also his crucial assist that led to youngster Pedro’s first goal for the club…. from twenty-five yards! What a way to make an entrance, vato…

Also, Pep making rapid gestures from the sidelines sort of sets the tone for competitive club football, doesn’t it? Supercopa’s second league is next weekend at the Nou Camp, so let’s see if Barca can start off their season with a bang!

That’s Samuel Eto’o and his son Etiene after last night’s Barca-Bilbao encounter. Sweet! How many kids can tell their friends that their father plays for Barcelona? You know that Etiene’s the coolest kid in school and different boys sit with him at lunchtime everyday. “Ettie, think we could get match tickets in exchange for Kinder Joy eggs?” For the record, Kinder Joy is marvelous and their toys are so much fun!

Onto the football, Lionel Messi scored his 18th goal in the La Liga this season last night. Bilbao rarely looked threatening as Barcelona put two goals past them.

“We just have to worry what we are doing and not talk about Real Madrid, only Barcelona,” said Eto’o. “Are we back to our best? Well we won and kept a clean sheet which is great but to be honest we were playing well before. However, we were conceding goals and drawing or losing the games.”
