Awww, check out that sheepish smile from Senhor Mourinho! Just what you needed to start your day eh, dear Mothers of the world?
Anyway, it’s Champions League night again tonight – and hopefully, Inter will not humiliate all their tifosi with a Bolognese performance capable of throwing away their 2-1 lead. That award belongs to Milan side which forgot to turn up for work against United last week!
“Special for me would be to bring Inter over the barrier they have had for a few years of not even going to the quarter-finals. Special for me is to bring the team into the next stage. I’ll read the game the best I can, make the best decisions I can, influence it in the best possible way and give everything I have to help my team win,” declared Jose.

OK, Dani Alves looks a little shocked in this photo (the lights, dear God!) but at least it was for a good cause! He attended an event in aid of the Haitian earthquake victims in Barcelona last night. We know a mano who looks exactly like Dani Alves - albeit a skinnier version, but he’s the equivalent of a douchebag… clearly something Dani is not! Bem feito.

Parabens! The U-20 seleção feminina have made it to the finals of the World Cup (as expected ) after defeating Chile in the semifinals of the South American category. Alana Santana is the name you should be chanting throughout the rest of the day because she scored the goals! Here’s a video of the futbolitas’ 3-1 win over Paraguay a few days ago…

Meninas, pay attention!! We know you can’t help checking out Jorginho but all that can wait until after the talk… there’s a time for everything. Anyway, if you’re wondering why the selecao’s assistant coach is at Granja Comary to speak to these girls, it’s because they’re competing in the U-20 Conmebol qualifiers for a place in the Women’s World Cup in July this year. Ok, Leah Lynn Fortune looks a little intimidated there but at least she’s listening.
Anyway, amigas had to skip the Carnaval festivities and go straight to the training drills. Esta é a dedicação! How incredibly hardworking. Here’s a cute class photo of everyone…

Alan Kardec is now officially a Benfica player! Of course you remember him… he’s the U-20 Brazil wanderkid from Vasco. Yes, there are thousands (and probably millions) of “Brazilian Wanderkids” but damn, tipo over here is a fineeeee one! Anyway, upon his arrival in Lisbon yesterday, Kardec spent 2 hours at the airport finalizing legal documents and unfortunately, did not grant interviews to any of journalists. But that’s because none of them were wearing bikinis!

Ah, lovely! Senhor Mourn-In-HoHo was at Stamford Bridge to witness Diving Drogba in action last night. Ever the hardworking coach, Mourinho is already taking notes prior to their Champions League encounter with Chelski next February. This man is a workaholic and you can almost imagine him saying, “Please don’t call me arrogant but in Jose world, there is no room for mistakes.” Oh please, in Jose world, there will be a special corner selling Ballackwursts, Ibrahimovic posters at half-price and CDS containing trance remixes of “I think I’m the special one” How can you not be arrogant if you have all that?!

That’s Kun Aguero in happier days… before he pulled a Tiger Woods on Gianinna, of course. Sometimes, all you gotta do is to stop being a Douche and everything can be normal again. And perhaps things are looking up for Kun (maybe not in the national team – if The Dona really believes that blood is thicker than water) according to the latest round of gossip.
Now, it seems that Potter Perez wants to bring Kun to Real Madrid next July and is willing to shell out €60 million to see him wear white. He doesn’t mind Villa either – but it seems pretty unlikely at this point. As for Kun, in order to complete Phase 3 of the glitzy Bachelor lifestyle, he must move to the Bernabeu. Because, que es lo que quieres, verdad?

No no, not Ronaldinho but Patinho! The award is officially called the “Golden Boy” award and is given out by Italian newspaper, Tuttosport. It recognizes the best U-21 player in the game, and Pato won most of the votes this year – beating out Balotelli, Bobojan and Ghana’s Adiyiah. Quite amazing, for esse cara who hasn’t been called up to the selecao in recent months!
Anyway, here Pato waxes lyrical about his interest to see Rafael da Silva clinch the next edition of the award (from one jovem to the next!) and his memories at Internacional, where he was pretty much a cracker. Which is a nicer word for “douche”, which we can’t bring ourselves to say.
“I see many familiar faces. I like Jovetic, who eliminated Liverpool in the Champions League with a double. I like Balotelli, I like (Bojan) Krkicand I like Adiyiah, a very fast striker who made my cry Brazil in Under-20 World Cup final in Cairo where his Ghana won on penalties,” said Pato. “But above all, I can say I have many friends and countrymen in the list of candidates. Beginning with the Benfica defender Sidnei: we arrived when we were 11 in the youth team of Internacional in Porto Alegre and spent six seasons together. Then Rodrigo Possebon, now at Sporting Braga on Manchester United – he comes from the same school. And as for Rafael da Silva, I root for him to become the next Golden Boy.”

Alan Kardec, Douglas Costa and Giuliano are the three musketeers ya’ll should be looking out for in the selecao. Granted, they didn’t bring home the U-20 World Cup trophy, but thankfully, they have a pretty awesome sense of humour to make up for it… although Giuliano needs to stop showing off his body. Hey, você quer ser como uma douchebag?
Anyway, watch the video above to see them trying on new shirts and pretending to ask one another questions (uma falha grande!)

Estas fotos quebrar nossos corações! In the end, Ghana got their revenge from the 1993 loss… and defeated our meninos in the finals of the U-20 World Cup last night. Even with one man down, the selecao’s multiple shots at goal couldn’t a seal a win in extra time. So it went to penalties and you know nobody really wins those…
“There’s a feeling of sadness. We were better in the match, created more chances, against a strong team,” Giuliano said. “If you look at the whole match, it was an unfair result.”
“I told the players to create chances and they did – we were not able to score today but they’ve done a great job throughout the tournament. When it gets to penalties, there’s nothing you can blame or regret,” said Rogerio Lourenco.
After the game, Alex Teixeira picked up the Silver Ball award while Giuliano won the Bronze Ball. Oh chicas, you can always watch this again to cheer yourselves up!

So the Selecao Bebes will play in the finals of the U-20 World Cup against Ghana today and we know how excited you are, so they’d better bring home the title! Iremos gritar!
As you can see, they’re all feeling a little sentimental now but if they can’t lose now. It will be a huge blow to everyone.
“It’s a world title that nobody can take away from us. It’s something which we will carry for life. Just look into the eyes of every one here and you’ll see how much everyone wants this victory,” said midfielder Diogo. “It is certainly the most important moment for me in this shirt. It’s a magical moment that touches everyone’s lives,” added Giuliano.
“I’m sure if we show that on the pitch and throw everything we can, it will give a huge step towards the title,” added Rafael, the goalkeeper.

Aaaaand our hermanos have made it into the finals of the U-20 World Cup! Forget Jesus Luz, the only name you should be screaming today is Alan Kardec! He scored winner against Costa Rica to earn Brazil a spot in the finals against Ghana on Friday. Yes, bebés are in the finals and we’re sure every scout in Europe will be at the game.
“We did well in the first five games, but we did not make a good presentation in the sixth game. To be champions, we will have to play better. But against Costa Rica show, we (showed) how much we want this title,” declared captain Giuliano.
Added coach Rogério Lourenço : “Today, I will not talk about the team’s performance – only about the power of the players to reach the finals of the (tournament). It was our first goal (to get to the finals) and the decision to win it is ours.”

Following yesterday’s post about the much-anticipated “rematch” between the Brazilian Oranjes (led by Kaka yesterday) and Blue F.C (Miranda), the bib-wearing players won 4-0 and Gilberto Silva is the happiest man alive. Jorginho (assistant coach) was part of the winning team and even scored a goal!
Also, yesterday’s session was pretty chill. Tipos should have played monkey or something. It’s such a fun exercise! After the warm-up session led by fitness instructors and Senor Paixão and Fabio Mahseredjian, Dunga and Jorginho made the team do some tactical exercises which ended with repeated dead-ball situations. They’re all ready for Venezuela, so bring it on!

You’re looking at the future of Brasil!! Yes, it’s a fabulous start for the futbolitos from the U-20 seleção when they thrashed Costa Rica 5-0 in their U-20 World Cup opener on Sunday. A brace from Alan Kardec (as expected from este rapaz...) and goals from Giuliano, Alex Teixeira and Boquita were enough for Brasil to outclass their opponents. Honestly, we feel bad for Costa Rica’s goalkeeper. Enjoy the Goal Show!

So the Selecao jovens left Brazil for the U-20 World Cup yesterday. There was no direct flight to Egypt from Brazil so the group had to make a brief stopover in Paris where they continued to Cairo.
Alan Kardec – who plays for Internacional – will be one of the names to look out for in the tournament. “Everyone asked me if I’ll feel nostalgic (about being out of the country), but I told them I’ll be back after the 17th or 18th – when we play in the final,” he joked. He knows his place, people!
“The expectation is to get there, (play) good games and become champions because the national team has no other thoughts other than bringing home the title. We have a great responsibility to represent Brazil, but it is getting there and winning the title,” added his teammate, Boquita.
Oooh, such is the pressure that comes with wearing a Guarana training tee. Vamos manos!

There’s a Brazil overload in Futbolita hoje (today), but who’s complaining?
After a particularly shaky start to the U-20 South American championships, Brazil’s youngsters have emerged champions of the tournament. Sure, we had our doubts when we watched them but they fought long and hard. This proves that local talent should be cultivated and not exported to Europe at a tender age.
They claimed their prize despite a 0-1 loss to Paraguay, who needed a victory in order to advance to the u-20 World Cup in Egypt. We leave you to enjoy the photographs of Detinho and amigos…

It’s getting difficult to stay track of this competition but due to its complex nature, the young selecao have emerged as champs of the U-20 Sudamericano!
With second half goals from Walter and Douglas Costa, the team defeated Columbia 2-1 yesterday. That result, and the tie between Uruguay and Paraguay (2-2) assured Brazil its tenth South American title.
They’re now regional champions and have secured a place in the World Under-20 Championships, which will be contested in Egypt this year.

The U-20 boys defeated Venezuela 3-0 in last night’s encounter, thanks to goals from Maylson, Giuliano and Sandro. It is Maylson’s (above) second goal of the tournament.
With their opponents coming into the match with a 0-3 defeat against Paraguay heavy on their minds, Brazil’s win was largely unsurprising. They dominated much of the attack and broke the deadlock in the 34th minute thanks to the Gremio midfielder.
The other goals came later thanks to a mistake by Venezuelan keeper (Giuliano). Sandro capped the game off superbly by slotting home in the 58th minute.
In addition to Brazil, 16 other countries have already qualified for the U-20 World Cup. They include Egypt, Tahiti, Czech Republic, England, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Australia, South Korea, United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan.

Brazil defeated Argentina 2-0 in what was a seemingly ‘fierce’ U-20 encounter with both sides throwing everything they could give. The soggy field and damp weather conditions made it difficult for the selecao to create any smooth play on the field.
Eventually, however, goals from Alan Kardec and Giuliano were enough to secure the team a spot in the the hexagonal round of the competition. Argentina have a measly one point. The end of the match saw some fierce exchanges between both sides – something we’ve come to expect from a game of such tension.

The U-20 selecao begun their final round campaign in a rematch against Uruguay last night, beating their opponents 3-2. Walter scored two goals in the game – no surprise there for the number 9. Douglas Costa slotted in the third goal which slipped past goalkeeper Perez’s hands.
It’s going to be an exciting match on Monday in Maturín, where Brazil meet Argentina. Looking forward to it!

In an open and exciting U-20 group match yesterday, Brazil were defeated 2-3 by Uruguay. The highlight of the game was a double by Uruguayan striker, Hernández. With the result, Brazil now lie in the third place of Group B with seven points. They will meet Uruguay again on Saturday.
According to the Brazilian press, the root of the team’s problem lay in the defense. They had the advantage of ball possession in the first half and long-distance kicks. But Leandro’s failure to react in the 22nd minute gave Uruguay the chance to lead.
The goal affected Brazil’s play on the field. The defense appeared afraid and marking was loose. Fortunately, after Douglas Costa’s goal in the first half, Brazil’s Alan Kardec found the net to save the blushes.

Dentinho and Maylson both scored last night in Brazil’s U-20 win over Chile. Detinho, in particular had a peculiar goal celebration ‘ritual’…. which you must watch in the video below.
After less than impressive performances (a draw with Paraguay and 2-1 win over Bolivia), coach Rogério decided to change the starting line up. And ten minutes into the game, Dentinho fought off the Chilean defense and scored his first goal of the tournament. In the 31st minute, Maylson added to the tally.
Brazil are now placed second in Group B and will face Uruguay on Wednesday in Puerto Ordaz. The South American championship automatically qualifies the top 4 teams for the FIFA U-20 Championship which will be held in Egypt this year.

The footballing Gods must have heard our cries and granted Brazil a 2-1 win over Bolivia in last night’s U-20 South American Championships.
The young selecao had to work hard to win the game, however as their opponents scored first thanks to a goal by Castedo. Rafael Toloi did no favours for the team either, after being sent off with a second yellow card.
However, Brazil fought back and expanded their gameplay – passing quickly and creating more chances at goal. Of course this paid off and Internacional’s Walter and Tales both netted in goals to earn a win for their side.
The South American championships are pretty challenging, and given the fact that all the players still play in their domestic leagues, it certainly shows that talent isn’t lacking outside Europe!
