Meet Lola Dolores, our official Mexican Futbolita from Juárez! An educator by profession, Lola is also an advocate for equity in education for indigenous and Mexican immigrant students.
She looks forward to representing Mexico in honour of her late father, who was a sports hero in her local community of el valle de Juárez. “Of course, I think México has the talent and the grit to win the whole thing! Every world cup I believe and hope for this!” she enthused. Vaya Vaya México!

ABOUT HER PASSION FOR FUTBOL…
“My passion for futból began early in life. I can’t recall my earliest memories because it seems I was born into this passion. Not having a local first division team to support, the Mexican National team became our team, as it really is for every other Mexican!
“This passion is really about my relationship with my father who passed away unexpectedly in October of last year. To the day he passed away, my father was all about sports, running, playing, organizing leagues, being a mentor to younger players, but most importantly being a great Dad! My Dad is a sports hero from our community in el valle de Juárez. He passed his love and appreciation of sports to my siblings and I. As a child, I remember how exciting watching the world cup was! Imagine when México hosted the world cup! I never felt, nor was I raised to think that as a woman I couldn’t compete, I couldn’t play, I couldn’t be a sports woman!
ABOUT THE MEXICAN PRIDE…
“Many Mexicans find themselves living outside of México, but despite these distances and hardships, we remain proud of our roots, our families, our nation. Our support for El Tri unites us where ever we may be!”

ABOUT HER LOCAL TEAM..
“I support Los Indios de Juárez, of course! Though they had a good run at first, they are now relegated to the Liga de Ascenso, the second professional level of the Mexican football league system, the Primera División de México. I support La Tribu for many reasons! I fully support the sporting endeavor of any team in Juárez, and unlike other regions of México, we have never had long-term first division sporting clubs in our city.
For starters, Los Indios de Juárez is the name used by the semi and professional league sports teams out of Juárez. My father played for Los Indios de Juárez baseball team in his youth. Secondly, Los Indios’ commitment to Juárez and it’s surrounding communities during these hard times is outstanding, but more importantly La Tribu brings us respite from the violence that threatens to implode around us. Los Indios represent the aguante, the coraje, and the orgullo of fronterizos, the people of the border!”
ON HER FAVOURITE PLAYERS…

“My favourite player has gotta be Cuauhtémoc Blanco (below) because of his leadership and because he leaves it all out on the field! He represents that link between the past, the present, and the future of nuestra selección. Cuauh échale ganas y coraje, ¡mucho coraje! As for the youth of our team, I have been keeping a close eye on Carlitos Vela, El Bombardero, Javier Hernández, el Chicharito, and the Dos Santos brothers Giovanni and Jonathan (psst Giovanni, ¡ya no te metas con Brenda!! ja ja)”
HER MESSAGE TO THE MEXICAN FANS…
“Take days off from work, for sure if you can! Prepare your botanitas, carnes asadas, menudo, cervezitas, pozole, tacitos, carnitas, and other foods to get you through the world cup!”
ON WHAT SHE’S LOOKING FORWARD TO….
“I am super excited to represent Mexico as the official Futbolita!!! I know if my father were alive he would be proud and a little entertained by the fact. I am looking forward to watching each and every match and supporting los Azteca as we make our way through the tournament….¡¡Si se puede!!
