Atlético Nacional’s Javier Flórez, who shot and killed a supporter on July 5, can return to play for his club Atletico Junior after receiving probation and paying the victim’s family a sum of U.S. $75 thousand. Ridiculous! You can’t put a sum on a person’s life and the Colombian should’ve been banned from the game para siempre.
The crime took place when the team lost the Colombian League title to Once Caldas and the supporter openly criticized the Florez’s performance. The midfielder shot Israel Campillo, a 27-year-old electrician twice and fled the scene on foot.
Said Florez, who claimed to be repentant : “Many think that they will never go through it, but it can happen. Nobody has the right to take the life of another person. Children should not (follow) this example, which leads to destruction of their lives.”
“We are very pleased he has been released. I am not the owner of the club, only one employee, Flórez will open doors here,” the coach of Atletico Junior told the media.
Open doors to more crime, perhaps?

Awww… isn’t that just so sweet? Messiah is hugging an old fan – and it isn’t just a random amigo of The Dona’s, in case you’re wondering (it’s actually his father!) Because if you get close to Maradona’s dad… the benefits will be great!
Speaking of The Dona, he’s pissed that the pitch that Argentina will play on tomorrow against Colombia has been used for a rock concert – comparing it to that of a waste ground.
“It’s disastrous.I hoped we could look for another stadium but I was told that River (Plate’s) is the only one approved by FIFA,” he said. “I’m not bothered about River wanting to earn money but I think they should be able to organise the dates properly.”
