Yes dear amigas, we had the honour of speaking to a Futbolita Favourite : Senor David Villa himself last Friday! And he knows about all you passionate chicos & chicas and spoke about everything about La Seleccion to his two adorable daughters Zaida and Oyala. Here are excerpts from our interview with him including bits on his love for Valencia and Nando Torres. As usual, we’ll post the full version later. Esperamos que os guste!
“I think it’s wonderful to see more women attending matches every time. Football is a universal sport for both men and women. I think women are very passionate when they are encouraged (to play) on the pitch so it’s also positive for us.”

“I would love for my daughters to come along and see me at the World Cup but that is not possible. Olaya only turns one in the summer and I don’t think it’s good for them to travel so far just to watch me. But I still dedicate every goal I score to them and my parents might come and watch me in South Africa.”
“I think Spain (is in) a tough group as all other groups. When you go to the World Cup final phase, there is no easy group and no easy opponents. We’re playing a few games within a short time and will have to do very well to beat any team. Hopefully, we can win and achieve something important!”
“It’s one of my personal projects. To me, education is very important to children. So from day one, I wanted to build a campus, where we can educate children on the values of coexistence, respect and solidarity. This year marks the third year and we have many people from all around Spain and even abroad,” he explained.

“I only have good things to say about Valencia and its people. I have been here in this city for five years and from day one, I was received with open arms and the fans have shown me their affection every day,” he said. “So yes, they make me feel at home and it is true that this is my second home. I just want to show my appreciation by putting in my best efforts.”

So you know how the transfer tales have been following good ol’ Fabregas over the last couple of months. From Real Madrid to Barcelona, they just won’t stop talking about the Arsenal crack! Of course, the ever brilliant Crackòvia went to spoof it all complete with a SONG AND DANCE number to none other than the Tom Jones cult favourite. And yes, it features everyone from Florentino Perez and Laporta to Gunners chairman… Peter Hill-Wood!! Brace yourself for CESC ON!

Parabens to Alvaro Negredo who has had a great, great week with Sevilla! And thanks to his solitary goal against Almeria last night, he helped Los palanganas climb out of a run of 4-match defeats. Now now, it was an easy goal but don’t forget that he also scored against Deportivo in the midweek Copa del Ray clash.
Looking at Alvaro, he looks like he should be in a telenovela playing the role of a suave boyfriend, but Gracias a Dios we have him in football! And if he keeps this up, Uncle Del Bosque will have many reasons to stop playing FIFA 10 and finally get down to that list (no, not the grocery list- it’s the crucial striker list!). Anyway, here’s a cute photo of the Negrado brothers smiling for the cameras. Is that Jason Mraz in the middle?

Ok, Albelda looks like he’s enjoying a rave right in that photo – so be quiet until the moment passes! Tres, dos, uno… ok, here we go. Los Che pulled off a nice 4-1 victory over Villarreal last night (poor, poor Nilmar) and damn, the goals were coming at you like there was no tomorrow! From the two Davids to former Boca kid, Éver Banega, everyone wanted the win desperately. Sure, their young defender Kiko (it isn’t just Macheda’s nickname, you know) was slapped with a red card but the boys sailed on con orgullo!
“I think against an opponent who have played some good matches so far, we’ve been very focused and very compact in defence and attack. Furthermore, after the sending off and 2-0 in our favour, we were able to stay on top,” declared Senor Unai Emery.
As a bonus, here’s Albelda with his mujer, Vicen!

It’s very tragic when a promising player from the youth ranks ends up stricken and helpless, like Real’s Ruben de la Red. Yesterday, the club rolled out a decision to consider Ruben an “indefinite absence”, which means they will pay him a ‘disability pension’ of €1,500 a month for the rest of his 2-year contract. So that your Uncle Puyi understands, it also means they’re chucking Ruben to the side and not paying his fees because they don’t know when he’ll recover from his complex heart situation.
The official explanation from the club is…
“Once a year of Temporal Incapacity has gone by, according to the Social Security Law it is possible for the Society to issue a report regarding the possibility to extend the Temporal Incapacity period to a maximum of 18 months, or to begin an inquiry for disability because it considers the medical perspective doesn’t allow for the player to be cured in said period of time.”
Oh, all those hopes and dreams… Siento su dolor! (We feel his pain). Here’s a video of Ruben visiting a sick young girl at a hospital.
Nando The Man is a pretty shy dude as we’ve already established. But this ad spot he did for Pepsi is too epic for words and it makes you want to visit the nearest Toys”R”Us and pick from their vast array of light sabers. It also reminds us of the time when a kid poked us with a light saber at a department store and ran off laughing at the top of his voice. Gente, he was so cool!
Querido Nando, por favor, cortarse el pelo. La camiseta también tiene que ir a dormir ahora. (Please cut your hair, Nando. And your T-shirt needs to go to sleep now)
Bayern may have qualified for the Champs League (quello che è successo, Juve?!) but Luca Toni is saying goodbye for real, and van Gaal himself has already returned his Laura Pausini CD to the striker.
“I have nothing else to talk to Luca Toni about. He has made it clear he wants to leave Bayern Munich, therefore, he can start looking for a new club. It is too late to come up with excuses now. He should have thought about it before. He decided to behave in a (certain way) and he did not achieve what we (planned) for him and therefore, there is no more place for him in Bayern Munich,” said the coach.
According to German newspapers, West Ham, Fenerbahce, Roma and Inter Milan have shown in the attacker. And yes, he does want to go back to Italy but Luca, you do not want to incur the wrath of Jose Mourinho!

Yes, that’s Diego looking all morose and arty. And you can’t really blame him. Tipos failed to find their footing in the most important European competition. Their elimination and humiliating 4-1 loss to Bayern screams utter humiliation! What about all those purchases they made? Melooooo!!!
“It’s hard to find words because in this case there is very little to say and so much to do,” admitted Del Piero. “There is not only one culprit, it is not who is more or less guilty. We all equally share the blame with no exceptions and we will all fight together to get out of this situation.”

Before you start getting excited over that photo (thanks Somosche), we must tell you that David Albelda’s sense of humour is pretty darn awesome. And in case you haven’t heard, he’s got the personality of a 8 year old boy whose joy can be found in a Kinder Egg.
Anyway, as ya’ll know, Real and Valencia will face off this weekend and David Silva has been ruled out of the game due to his injury. So of course, they had to ask Albelda a few cliché questions at the pre-match conference.
“We do not have Silva and we are not taking the pain in the ass every day!” Albelda declared. He was also asked about the absence of Ronaldo at the Mestalla (after receiving a double booking) The reporters laughed his response but he added fuel to the fire by saying : “Do not laugh, it’s true, dammit!”

So here comes Higuain, looking as suave as ever on the streets of Madrid. Lovely…! Anyway, the Madridistas all came together to attend Guti’s dinner celebration that the Fallen Favourite held to honour his “14 years at the club in the number 14″ on Wednesday. Raul The Great One couldn’t attend it because he had to be with his wife, Mamen, who is expecting her fifth child. Greaseano gave it a miss too because he was experimenting on the effects of Clear Shampoo on Mama Dolores’s new pet poodle. Kkkkk, the truth is his ankle injury is still being a bitch so he stayed at home cutting vegetables.
Nevertheless, everyone else (who was important to Guti) came and that included Iker Casillas, Kaka, Sergio Ramos, Xabi Alonso, Raul Albiol, Pepe, Karim Benzema, Marcelo, Arbeloa, Lass Diarra and (gasp) Gago. According to the gossip rags, no one stayed up late to partaaaay because of the morning training session they’re having today. Yeah right – you can bet Gago went to Pacha to look for Pellegrini.
Disculpe but Wedgiellas looks like a washed-out 72 year old David Hasslehoff clone…

Ei chicas, you have to admit that front page image with David Villaaaaa in his Kung-Fu pose is muito legal!!! He looks ferosha… come on, his daughter already thinks it’s cool and has started to draw on it with her red Crayola. Anyway, Villaaaa opened the scoring against Osasuna in the sixth minute thanks to his outstretched boot (talk about being at the right place, at the right time) last night. David Albelda and Carlos Marchena scored the other two goals.
“This is a tough place to come and we played really well to win the game,” said Albelda. “We are growing as a team and just have to keep going the way we are and see what happens.”
Also, David Silva’s hair is calling out to be in a Sunsilk ad…. seriously, darle una oportunidad!

So tipo over here was the hero for Villarreal yesterday, following a bad start to their season. Nilmar didn’t even have to change the colour of his jersey… all he needed was two goals bebes! Thanks to him, it looks like El Submarino Amarillo are slowly starting to find their pace again, scoring 14 goals in their last four games.
“Despite the result it wasn’t easy,” said Villarreal coach Ernesto Valverde. “I liked what I saw of my team and think we were better so we are happy with how we played as well as the result.”

What is Spain’s key to beating Argentina tonight? If you believe Uncle Del Bosque, it’s being tranquilo (“even when you’re on a plane that’s about to crash…” a Brazilian reporter once told us).
“We must always be thinking about maintaining our enthusiasm, because there is no comfort zone. We must have more excitement, more effort, more desire to win every game. A World Cup is coming which is exciting for everyone but we can’t go thinking we are unbeatable,” he said. Nando Blondie is out of today’s game so David Villa is expected to start in place of him as a sole striker.
Also, The Dona has hailed Messiah - despite not being given 100% access to his hotel room… still. “He must be the owner of the team. He knows it. We have the best player in the world in our team,” your favourite coach declared. “We will give him lots of responsibility. He is doing the work that I have asked of him. I am very happy with Messi.”
Awww, we hope Kun is not writhing with envy now. Siéntate, papá!

The city of Alcorcón celebrated their shock victory over Real Madrid in style yesterday, as thousands lined the road to catch a glimpse of their heroes. Fans crowded around the team bus to welcome back their boys and we have to admit, it’s certainly a beautiful image!

It’s always sad when a death occurs in the football family. Tributes poured in from all over the world yesterday following the death of German goalkeeper, Robert Enke. It later emerged that he had been suffering from depression after the death of his 2-year-old daughter in 2006. “When he was acutely depressive, it was a difficult time. We thought we’d manage everything. We thought with love, we could do it. But you can’t,” his widow, Teresa, said.
“We had Lara, we have Leila. I always wanted to help him to get through it. Robert didn’t want it to come out because of fear. He was scared of losing Leila. Enke was also on the way to become Germany’s first-choice keeper until an intestinal infection sidelined him.“I tried to be there for him, I said that football is not everything,” she added. Descanse en paz…

Diego Perotti didn’t know what he was in for when he decided to join Kanoute and Fabulousooo in their celebratory group hug! Anyway, Los palanganas fought hard in their 3-2 victory over Villarreal last night and Manolo Jimenez thinks it’s all down to the fans. Gotta give credit where it’s due, senor!
“The most important player today has been the fans, because the team lacked rhythm and there was also an accumulation of fatigue. Today we won thanks to the support of the fans,” he said.
Fabulousooo netted in twice and Kanoute added in the third goal to cancel out goals from Robert Pires and David Fuster. This is why he keeps getting called up to Bootcamp, bebês!

“On a normal day we are usually at the studios, writing, cutting and producing news pieces or reports for our programmes. I record Real Madrid Life, the show that I present, every Thursday. It’s a nice day, as I get pampered by my make-up artists and stylists before I go on set!” Murray enthused.
And although she doesn’t get to share a lunch table with Florentino Perez (“He is a very busy man!”), Murray’s job with Real Madrid TV means that she boards the same plane as the Madrid boys when they travel to away games and also enjoys exclusive sit-down interviews with them. And in case you were wondering, that list includes Kaka and Ronaldo.

Stroking a cat… looking intently into multiple screens… we see more of a resemblance to Austin Powers than James Bond! Nevertheless, you know no one can pull this ad better than the furrrrrosh Fabregas. So go on, have a look…

Aaaaand Raul Albiol appears to be impressed with Nando’s penchant for descriptive storytelling! A proud papá moment, indeed and you know rapaz asked everyone (including Raver Ramos) to be Nora’s godfather.
Anyway, la seleccion have lost David Villa to injury and Madrid’s youngster Alvaro Negredo has been called up to replace him. “This is the happiest day of my life. The chance to go with the national team doesn’t come around often. It’s been a long time coming. I am so happy, and for any player this is the ultimate,” he declared.

Meanwhile, the Spanish football Association celebrated their 100th anniversary yesterday and Spanish Prime Minister, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero finally received a jersey of his own. It’s about time… seeing that Lula probably has a dozen stored away! He also launched the “1 Goal Education For All” international campaign with Puyolita yesterday, which promotes education for everyone and Titipo Henry also supports the cause. The prime minister also scored a penalty against Iker Casillas yesterday – and obviously, Wedgie let the ball through… duh!
