Fatherhood is a defining moment in every man’s life, especially for first timers like Real Madrid and Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas. Unbeknown to some, he’s a rather low-profile figure (a stark contrast to, for example, Sergio Ramos) and does not like to discuss his personal life.
However, for the first time, the enigmatic goalkeeper spoke about how fatherhood has completely transformed him. On a radio show with the journalist, Nuria Roca, he spoke up about how his life has been completely rejuvenated after the arrival of his son, Martin, with Spanish journalist Sara Carbonero.
“A child is the best thing to happen to you , it’s worth getting up every day to see him. I go home with a renewed sense of energy. Martin looks like both (me and Sara Carbonero). He has features of both his mother and father. Everyone is going to say what they want, but I think it has something from both of us. Has good ‘ mollitas ‘ , as I say. ” – Iker Casillas.
He added that his fellow friends have all warned him that fatherhood is no walk in the park, but said that he is blessed to be able to “eat, sleep well” because the baby Martin behaves well.
“I love the baby’s bath time because he loves it. It is a phenomenal time and his face wakes up! What if he wants to be a goalkeeper? I’ll tell him to let him grow up and decide to do what he wants… but I want him to play football.”
Brazilian legend Ronaldo had an awkward reunion with Neymar’s now (sadly) ex-girlfriend, Bruna Marquezine, at Brazil’s recent Carnaval. But everybody knows that there’s nothing awkward about meeting at Carnaval… when you can just dance and laugh it off!
A guest of one of the country’s famous beer brands, Bruna posed with the World Cup ambassador and all-round legend, in the VIP box where they probably had a chat about…. um, football?
Ronaldo played at Neymar’s current club, Barcelona, during the 96/97 season before being picked up by Inter Milan and going on to make history at the 2002 World Cup.
Colombian singing sensation Shakira has given an interview to ‘Latina’ magazine, where she gushed about her relationship with Barcelona’s Gerard Pique.
The couple have an adorable son named Milan together, but she maintained there was no ‘rush’ to get married or settle down, because of the nature of their relationship. The couple share the same date of birth, and Shakira’s own ‘gitana‘ personality believes they are soulmates.
“There’s real love, there’s no ulterior motives. And I’m with him because he’s the most amazing man I’ve ever met. We want the same things, we like the same things, we hate the same things. I have never been with someone so passionate in my life.’
Echoing Casillas’ sentiments about having a baby, Shakira added that if she had not been “so busy”, she would have been pregnant now. “When you have a baby, when you feel his love, you feel so at peace with the world. You just want to share the good news and share how happy you feel.’
Abbey Clancy and her Stoke City husband and England one-time Robot Dancer, Peter Crouch, are known around town for loving their gigs.
Clancy, in particular, has a bit of a rock chick edge to her, as her younger brother has a band called The Razz. When asked about his favourite music once, Crouch said : “I like all sorts, it depends on my mood. If pushed to name a band of the moment, I would say Kings of Leon.”
Naturally, Clancy dragged Crouch to the NME Awards aftershow party on Wednesday evening, where she wore a pair of thigh-high boots. They then headed to London’s Sketch nightclub in the back of a cab.
