Liverpool star Daniel Sturridge is determined to put England’s disappointing World Cup campaign behind him, after their surprise elimination in the group stage of the tournament.

Luckily for him, the summer break has started early and the 24-year-old was spotted dressed fashionably to celebrate some of the music industry’s biggest names at the BET awards ceremony in California on Sunday.

The awards are held annually to celebrate the African-American community and their achievements in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year.

The striker made a surprise appearance at the awards show in Los Angeles, to present the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist award to Pharrell Williams alongside NFL star DeSean Jackson and actor Boris Kodjoe.

The lanky forward, who struggled to get his lines out initially, reminded NFL star Jackson that England were the original inventors of football.

“DeSean, we’ve been kicking football around internationally for years baby boy. You know we invented the game, that’s how it goes,” said Sturridge.

But when the argument got out of a hand, Boris cut them both down to size, saying, “Fellas relax OK, international football, American football, you both play with balls.”

Another Premier League star was also in attendance at the awards show was Man City’s French midfielder, Samir Nasri, who is currently on holiday with his girlfriend, model Anara Atanes, in LA.

Atanes uploaded a photo of the duo before heading to the show, held at the Nokia Live Theatre.

Nasri has been spending in holiday in the States, after being left out of Didier Deschamps’ French squad at the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Sturridge’s England teammate, Wayne Rooney was equally determined to make the most of his holidays in Las Vegas, where he was spotted soaking in the sun with his wife, Coleen on Monday.

The Manchester United striker and his beau were seen partying with a group of friends at a VIP bungalow in the popular Encore Beach Club.

After a disappointing year in the player’s career, the couple decided that the popular holiday destination of footballers would be the perfect remedy for him.

However, the holiday failed to get off to a good start when Coleen tweeted that her luggage had been ‘ransacked’ by staff of British Airways.

“Feel sick….. just received my 4 cases 2 days late from BA Heathrow to Las Vegas. Opened them all and they have been completely ransacked,” she wrote on the social network site.

WAG Coleen, 27, also accused the national airline of raking through her bags and taking some of her things.

Coleen joined Wayne in the VIP pool as they spent some quality time together before the striker has to report back to Carrington for his pre-season training.
