It’s an important day for Brazil, as they face a ‘Do or Die’ task against an impressive Colombian side in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Fortaleza later today.

Although it has clearly been a stressful time for Scolari’s side who were extremely lucky in the Round-of-16 against Chile (if not for a stroke of goalkeeping luck, surely, by Julio Cesar), the Brazilians still welcomed fans, family and friends to their hotel this week.

In between training sessions, squad dinners and physiotherapy sessions, as well as a rumoured “emotional therapy” session on Monday, the players also attended press conferences.

David Luiz – always a favourite with the children – posed in several candid photos with the fans while Luis Gustavo was thrilled to see his son again.

All week, goalkeeper Cesar has also been receiving messages and drawings from young fans across the country, commanding him for his efforts and basically calling him their Superhero.

Cesar will not be the only player who is expected to shine for Brazil, especially against a Colombian side with the second highest attacking record in the World Cup. With 11 goals in the tournament, one less than the Netherlands, the squad also boasts strong defence with only two goals conceded. Brazil, meanwhile, has scored eight goals and conceded three.

Colombia’s “it” boy of the moment, James Rodriguez, said : “We’re very happy because we are making history. We want to do even more because this is a team that really wants to win.”
