France’s female footballers are on a roll! Both Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain are contesting not only a Champions League quarter-final place but also the French championship title these days. PSG set up a mouth-watering Last-16 clash with compatriots Lyon in the Champions League after defeating FC Twente at the Stade Charléty, 1-0, on Wednesday to complete a 3-1 aggregate victory. Even Brazilians Thiago Silva and Marquinhos, were spotted at the stands appreciating the show!
Umm, girl power, anyone?!
Both Lyon and PSG women’s teams have convincingly monopolised the upper reaches of the table with seven wins from seven matches so far this season and are only separated by goal difference. They are both tied at 28 points, with Juvisy running second with 22 points.
Lyon have scored 45 times while conceding just once, with PSG finding the net a mere 26 times. Here’s a reminder of what these two teams can do, from August’s Valais Women’s Cup, which Lyon won 3-2.
