Offbeat : Liverpool Squad Including Gerrard, Balotelli Spread Christmas Cheer In Local Hospital

Man United stars celebrated their impressive 3-0 derby victory over Liverpool over the weekend by enjoying a well deserved “boys night out”.

They booked a Manchester bar until 2am and took the chance to celebrate their second Christmas party of the season without their wives and family.

Wayne Rooney, the club captain and the player who was charged with organising both parties, led the way to The Neighbourhood Bar.

Ander Herrera, Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and David de Gea also arrived at the central bar in good spirits, despite the rainy weather.

The squad rolled up to the venue in three buses, and included both first team and injured players.

Adnan Januzaj, Robin van Persie and Daley Blind were spotted looking particularly excited, possibly as Louis van Gaal’s side will not be involved in any midweek football action this week.

Meanwhile, Falcao, Ashley Young and Anderson, who is still on the club’s payroll despite a lengthy injury spell, also turned up to the party.

Earlier in the day the players also took part in the club’s traditional hospital visits, meeting sick children and giving out presents to fans.

United’s most recent win at Old Trafford extended their winning run to six games and has consolidated their position in the top three of the Premier League.

Liverpool stars Raheem Sterling, Steven Gerrard and Mario Balotelli surprised children at the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital as part of the club’s annual Christmas tradition.

The children were thrilled to receive gifts from some of the top players in the Premiership.

The entire team paid a visit to the wards, where young patients were gifted with special merchandise from the club.

As the squad was so big, they were split into five groups to ensure every child received a gift, and players also met with patients, parents and nurses.

In one heartwarming photo, Glen Johnson, Lazar Markovic, Jordan Henderson, Jon Flanagan and Dejan Lovren even participated in the birth of a new baby.

Club captain Gerrard said: “I have been visiting Alder Hey for many years now and it is such a special place. Our visit is always a day of mixed emotions but it’s always nice to meet the children and their families and create as many smiles as we can.

“It’s important to the players and the club to give something back and provide positivity to our young fans, many of whom are facing tough times.”

Manager Brendan Rodgers added: “Our Christmas visits to Alder Hey are always very special and memorable. It’s a privilege for the team to have the opportunity to meet with the children and their families to show their support.

“It’s great that our visit can bring so much happiness to those that need a little lift, which is very important to me, the players and the club.”
